I haven't posted on here in a minute, but I'm still here. I just haven't been inspired to work on this project. But now that I've settled down a bit (for the moment) I busted out a new piece.

I'll let you in on the idea process...

When I lie in bed at night trying to fall asleep my mind goes haywire. It's really when I come up with some of my best ideas. It's time when I can visually imagine ideas in my head. I've got the ideas but with my eyes closed and in the dark I can visualize it in my mind. (does anyone else do this?) Then while I'm visualizing it, more ideas pop up. I have so many ideas that I usually have to grab my phone and write them in my notes app.

So I was lying in bed one night when this concept came to me. I had already recorded some excerpts from my book (The Psychotropic Journals, for those of you who aren't aware) and just needed an art concept to pair the audio to. The first idea was of the multiple cameras capturing different views. Then the old-school vintage dress and then the usual covering myself up with my skeleton gloves and some sort of face covering (to keep my anonymity). I was going to film it in a yard but decided that the wide openness of the crop field gave it a more solitary feel. The puppet idea was a last minute thing because I felt like I needed to show movement since you can't see my mouth moving. I thought it added something.

And there you have it-another performance art piece.

It took me several hours

to edit the 1 second clips and then add the words, and I'm pretty pleased with the result. I think the words for this piece are the most personal and deep. And I think with the video it makes the words hit harder.

But what do you think??

Check the video out here or on my youtube channel.

And subscribe to my channel (I won't be coming out with videos every week. Ain't nobody got time for that. But the suspense of the next drop will keep you interested.)
